choose a move free youth ministry game

I don’t know about you, but finding new games that students will enjoy is always a challenge. That’s why I was happy to see that the team over at Download Youth Ministry are giving away this game right now.

From their description:

Get it while it is hot – the Whip or the Nae Nae craze will be gone before you know it, so have some fun dancing and playing this silly fun game. Students simply choose a move, and then get eliminated one by one. Maybe throw in a dance off at the end!

I don’t know how long the giveaway is going on, so click on over there now. Enjoy!

Take Me to the Game

I was watching some podcast Brian Brushwood was on when I first discovered  This is a online, user-generated world record site.  (I almost feel foolish writing anything else because I know your brains are already spinning on this one.)  It’s easy.  After signing up, you post a video as proof.  They review it and then confirm you made or broke the record.

After hearing about this, one of our students immediately went and broke the record for number of times saying “pretty” before “good” in one breath.  He was beaten soon after by a girl from Canada, but rest assured that he considered it a matter of national pride to get this  record back in American hands!

So, we hosted a world record event and set a bunch of great ones that are being verified as I type.  As a fun promo for the event our staff broke several records including my own world record:

NBC’s Minute to Win It

We are always trying to think up new games to use in our ministry.  NBC has done a great thing for youth pastors!  The new game show Minute to Win It (premiering this Sunday March 14, 2010) has between 60 and 70 doable games that can be used as youth ministry crowd breakers.

Check out the site Minute to Win It and look at the “Game Vault.” There are videos to show you how to play each game and written directions that you can copy and paste in a document, and a list of items required. This is a gold mine of game ideas!
Here’s an example of one of their videos:

Some Christmas Freebies

There’s a lot of Christmas Freebies floating around this year.  I thought I’d let you know about some before it’s too late.

Some of these are daily or every couple days.  Even if you missed a few of them, there’s still a lot of freebies left before Christmas.

Race This Vol. 2: Physical

Have you ever been to a professional sporting event where they have a race on the Jumbotron where everyone can pick one of three objects to cheer for? That’s was Race This! is, dot races for your youth ministry. I don’t know how many of you used Race This! Vol 1, but it was really well done and all in flash, but on this new volume the quality is stepped up a bit because instead of using flash to generate the races they are all video. This allows for much better graphics and images in the races. That was the thing that stood out to me the most, was just how great it looked. Usually I’m a big proponent of downloadable products, but this is one where I think it might be worth it to get the physical version instead. The way it’s setup is if you have the physical version you can play the races directly off the disk through a DVD player. This makes it super easy even just to play on a TV if are in a small room without a video projector. You can still load the video files up in your presentation software and play everything through the computer if you want also.

If you would like to try it out, you can download one of the games free here: Rhino Race.

You might also want to check out Race This! Vol 1 or get both Race This! Vol. 1-2.
